Inspiration

To quote on of my favorite musicals (Jesus Christ Super Star) "once I was inspired, now I’m tired." I don't know where April went... but it has come and gone, and apparently, so did my desire to blog. I really want to keep up with this, but it seems I just got busy... with what? I don't know.

I found a new TV channel today. It's called Veria, "Your Life... naturally" maybe I'll get some inspiration from this channel. Seems it's already starting to work since I am posting this! I am not entirely sure what all this station has to offer, but so far I have been impressed. I've watched a Pilates class (yes, watched, did not participate... yet), watched a program on holistic pet care, and now I'm watching a program about a woman that cured her horrible psoriasis by changing her diet. Pretty powerful stuff if you ask me... if I could just get over the texture thing, I would totally be down for a more whole, natural, diet.

I PROMISE date night part 2 is coming! I am waiting on Bubba to help me edit the videos I want to post. By the time I post the follow up, I doubt it will be date night part 2... it may just be, "look what Lacy ate!"

I appreciate all the support I have received so far and I promise to be a better blogger!

Bad Blogger!

I am so sorry that I haven't updated part 2 of our date night.  This week has been crazy, and blogging took a back seat!  I promise that part 2 is coming, and it will be well worth the wait!

Date Night ~ Part 1

The plan was to go to Whole Foods alone while Bubba worked, but he ended up having the day off, so I convinced him to come with me. Bubba doesn't usually like to go shopping with me, especially when I don't have a list and I'm just “browsing.” So off we went, no clue what we were looking for, just wanting to try out some new things.

We wandered the store for a little while just looking at all the different options. Since it was a Saturday, they had different samples out and even a live band playing by the seafood section! Jesse was inspired by a sample of red pepper jelly from West Virginia, so we set out to get our Date night menu.

After we had done most of the shopping, we knew that we wanted to check out the wine bar upstairs, so we decided to check out before we got any perishable items. We had a great check out guy! Shout out to Adam! We headed upstairs to a small room and found what I like to think of as an adult’s Chuck-E-Cheese. We put money on our card (much more than we actually needed) and tried out a few wines. We immediately fell in love at first pour. The wine was from Austria and a grape that Bubba and I had never heard of, called Zweigelt. That’s not saying much about me, but Bubba knows his wines. I’ll have to have him post something about this wine soon, it’s amazing!

So after a few different tastings we decided to get the Austrian wine and head back downstairs for round 2 of groceries! We got our perishables and finally left. So, remember the goal of 2 hours and under budget? We definitely missed the mark of 2 hours, but if you don’t include the wine adventure, we definitely came in under budget! Really the prices are not that bad for the quality that you are getting. Sure you can get cheaper stuff at the local grocery, but I want to make every calorie that I put in my body count!

Don't miss part 2 of our Date Night adventure! I'll be showing you what we made and even what I tried for the first time! You won't want to miss the video!

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

If you have not seen this show yet, you need to!  I started watching this show with my parents last week, mainly because nothing else was on, but now I'm hooked!  Jamie Oliver, or as I like to refer to him, The Naked Chef has brought his successful program of "Food Revolution" to America.  Basically, he wants to change the way our schools are feeding kids, and to educate Americans about cooking and eating healthier.  Something we could all use a little help with.

His message seems simple enough, yet why is it so difficult for our society to change?  He set up shop in West Virginia, so maybe a road trip is in the future...

I have heard good things about his book "Jamie's Food Revolution" so maybe I'll try to find it at the library or go sit at Barnes and Noble and read over it.

But really, the show is great, and kind of inspiring.  You should check it out!  It's on Fridays @ 9pm (ET) on abc.  Here's a link to the trailer: Jamie's Food Revolution

If you've seen the show, let me know what you think!  Oh and I desperately need to go to the grocery store and I'm thinking I might take the plunge and shop at Whole Foods.  My goal is to stay under budget and still get out of the store in less than 2 hours?  Can it be done?  You'll have to check back later to find out!

Until then... (enter cool catch phrase that I haven't come up with yet here)

ps.  how many times can I say Revolution in one post?  First one to comment gets a prize!

It's so hard to say goodbye!

How do you break up with this?

Oh, and there are 2 more cases in the pantry!

Is there a facility for Diet Coke addicts? Cause I think I need to go!

World Health Day 2010

Did you know today (April 7th) is World Health Day? Me neither!

The husband, we'll call him Bubba, (that's actually what I call him) and I ventured into Whole Foods last night. This was the first time we had actually been in the store, if you can call it a store. Looked more like a bunch of mini restaurants amongst a few isles of food to me. We weren't looking for anything in particular, I just wanted to walk around after a filling meal at Pei Wei. While we were in the homeopathic remedy isle, I had a brilliant idea for a blog!

I have been needing to start a real "diet." I've tried lots of diets before, but I usually give up within a few weeks. You see, I am an EXTREMELY picky eater! A lot of foods make me gag, and fruits and vegetables? Forget about it! My dad and I call it a texture thing. Bubba calls it a Super Palate. I think it's mostly psychological, but any way you put it, I am PICKY!

So, back to Whole Foods. I thought to myself, "self", what if you started a blog where you wrote about getting healthy and eating organically. Then today I see that it's World Health Day. Is someone trying telling me something?

So what I have decided to do? I am going write about what I am doing to make myself healthier, but not only in my eating habits, but in my day to day life. Everyone always says that losing weight and becoming healthy is a lifestyle change, so that is what I intend to do. I am not sure if everyone inthe house will be on board with everything, and I can guarantee some struggles, but something has GOT to give!

As I write this I am eating Reese's Pieces. I better enjoy them while it lasts, cause the journey starts NOW!
